Tier 2: Harm Repair & Restorative Behavioral Interventions
About The Pathway…
This 5-part workshop series offers deeper restorative practices for addressing conflict and harm in youth-serving contexts. Each workshop is standalone, though together they create a comprehensive exploration of Tier 2 restorative approaches. Participants will examine the impact of trauma and neurological development on behavior, practice tools for harm and impact circles, restorative conferencing, and re-entry circles, and explore trauma-informed strategies for intervention.
Tier 2 is best suited for participants who have some familiarity with Tier 1 practices (such as restorative communication or circle-keeping).
About The Workshops…
Understanding Negative Behavior And Unmet Needs
What looks like “bad behavior” is often a signal of something deeper. In this session, we explore how unmet emotional, social, and physical needs show up in classrooms and communities. Participants will learn frameworks to look beneath the surface, respond with empathy, and support more constructive outcomes.
Harm Circles and Impact Circles
When harm occurs, communities need ways to address it that heal, not divide. This workshop introduces harm circles and impact circles as tools for accountability, empathy, and repair. You’ll practice how to structure these circles in classrooms, workplaces, and community spaces to rebuild trust and relationships.
Restorative Conferencing
Restorative conferencing creates space for those most affected by harm to come together and seek resolution. In this session, you’ll learn the steps, goals, and best practices for facilitating a conference—whether between students, colleagues, or community members—so accountability leads to repair and not punishment.
Re-entry Circles and COSAs (Circles of Support & Accountability)
Returning to a classroom, workplace, or community after a serious incident or separation can be difficult. This workshop explores re-entry circles and COSAs (Circles of Support and Accountability) as restorative practices that welcome people back with compassion, accountability, and structured support for long-term success.
Trauma Informed Restorative Interventions
Trauma affects how people show up in relationships, classrooms, and communities. This session integrates trauma-informed principles with restorative practices to create spaces that emphasize safety, co-regulation, and healing. Participants will learn strategies for responding to harm in ways that reduce retraumatization and promote resilience.
